Kimmer’s Ice Cream offers a cool way to support the North Central College Red Noise Marching Band on Tuesday, July 19, when the St. Charles gourmet ice cream shop offers a percentage of the day’s proceeds and all tips to support Red Noise’s band camp, travel and development. Musicians from the college will present informal performances at the shop throughout the evening.
“I was approached by Kim Kessler of St. Charles, a band member who works at Kimmer’s. I was impressed with her initiative and her enthusiasm, and wanted to help her raise money for the group’s travels and training,” says Kimmer’s owner Kimberly Elam. “Kim is pretty typical of our employees. They bring a real sense of energy and fun to the shop. They really enjoy their jobs here and like
to build relationships with the customers. Rewarding that by getting involved just makes sense to me.” Kimmer’s will feature a variety of gourmet and classic flavors, including Red Velvet Cake ice cream in a salute to the North Central Cardinals colors.
The Red Noise, founded in 2004, is present at all North Central home and many away football and basketball games, as well as providing spirit to other college events. North Central is the only school in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a marching band.
Kimmer’s Ice Cream, located at 1 West Illinois, features homemade gourmet and classic ice cream flavors, ice cream cakes and pies, shakes and smoothies as well as Gramp’s frozen custard. Kimmer’s hosts parties, showers and girls nights out as well as tours and fundraising events. Kimmer’s traveling ice cream cart is seen frequently at community events throughout the Tri-Cities.
